I cannot wait for the second book in this stunning duology. These characters are written so beautifully, and I love found-family stories. Who doesn’t love a snarky, well-dressed captain? He’s also supportive AF, which I loved. Let’s not forget about Bastian, our witty and charming pirate. She falters and struggles, but she picks herself right back up and keeps fighting. She’s fierce and can take care of herself, but she’s no Mary-Sue.

CharactersĪmora was hands down my favourite character. This book was SO good, I’m probably never going to stop gushing about it. It contains lush descriptions, raw emotions and loads of witty banter. Books, where nothing is as it seems and authors challenge the rules of their own worlds, are my bread and butter. I also enjoyed how Adalyn pulled apart her own world, she clearly sets up the rules in the beginning and then proceeds to break those rules. I loved exploring with Amora and getting to know each of the islands and their unique magics. Visidia captures your attention and completely draws you in. I expected nothing less from someone who worked on The Legend of Korra (I love this woman).Īll the Stars and Teeth was a magical read.

Let me just say this: I was not disappointed. I immediately knew I had to read this book (partly because of the cool artwork she posted, seriously, check her Instagram). I have been waiting for this book ever since I accidentally followed Adalyn on Instagram. I was given a free copy of this book by the author. A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she’ll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stow-away she never expected… or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever.

She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he’ll help her prove she’s fit to rule if she’ll help him reclaim his stolen magic.īut sailing the kingdom holds more wonder-and more peril-than Amora anticipated. When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice. As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer-the master of souls.
